Hey! So Glad You're Here.

Just a little about me...

#StartedFromTheBottomNowImHere I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. I hate football, but it's "Go, Jags!" every single day of my life. I love God and I love His people. Educated in Duval County Public Schools from K-12...I'm a strong believer in the public school system, flaws and all. Got a bachelor's degree (International Studies) in 2004 and a master's degree (Varying Exceptionalities) in 2008. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership & Professional Practices; I absolutely love this program. I am a nonprofit founder - Little Hands, Big Hearts Little People's Service Organization. Check us out at www.littlepeopleserving.org. I consider myself a whole-child advocate; check my resume' and work history for details.

#WanderlustLikeAMug I am an avid traveler, most times, traveling by myself. I guess you can say that I don't scare easily. When I travel, I live by a mantra I learned from my pastor, "Do it scared!". To date, my feet have touched over 30 states and 7 countries. Once I finish this doctoral degree, I plan to add several more countries to this list.

#TheseAreAFewOfMyFavoriteThings I love to write...it's my highest intelligence according to Dr. Gardner's Multiple Intelligences assessment. My favorite color is cornflower blue. You don't know what shade that is, huh? I try to explain it to people this way...if you look up at the sky in summertime Florida when the rain falls every day, it's most often cornflower blue - a mix of light blue, gray, and violet. Some might think I'm simple for this, but whatever! I love boiled peanuts. Boiled peanuts are the way to my heart (don't laugh...never mind, you can laugh). Why did I name this site, "Hey, Daughter-Girl"? When my dad and I engage in deep conversations about life, he usually prefaces our conversations with "Hey, daughter-girl...". That's my cue that things are about to get really REAL. During those moments, I know I'm going to get his undivided attention and his best "daddy" advice...super special moments when he opens with that phrase.

#OooohShesSoProfessional For the last 14 years, I have been serving students with disabilities as an ESE professional. I have taught across the spectrum of services for students with disabilities (separate class, resource setting, support facilitation, and general education). I transitioned into compliance and school support as Staffing Specialist...that role matured me in the ways of ESE exponentially! As of July, 2021, I am transitioning into my next role, one that is very close to my heart, as a TBRI Practitioner (TBRI stands for trust-based relational intervention). I'll be working with varying systems of care to train professionals in supporting children who have experienced developmental trauma. I'm excited to continue my journey as a whole-child advocate. If you want to know more, check back periodically for updates, purchase my book, follow me on social media (@NikkiAnthony), and let's journey together. Besos!
